FAQ

How do I book a tattoo appointment with you?

You can fill out a booking request form and I will get back to you in a few days!

What is “flash” ?

“Flash” refers to designs an artist creates for clients to choose from. Flash generally reflects the themes & imagery an artist is most interested in tattooing. There are two types of flash: “one-off” flash, meaning they will be tattooed only once making them unique pieces; and repeatable flash, which are generally my most popular designs and will be labeled as such. Most flash can be scaled to whatever size you would like, however some flash have minimum size requirements in order to preserve the details of the design. Flash designs on this site may not be available at the time of your request.

What should I do for aftercare?

While there is no one “right way” to heal a tattoo, I recommend gently cleaning (no scrubbing) your fresh tattoo twice a day with antimicrobial soap, patting it dry with a paper towel or letting it air dry, and using a non scented moisturizer such as lubriderm or cetaphil. Always clean your tattoo with clean hands. No bathing, soaking or swimming. Do not scratch your tattoo or pick at any scabs that might form. Keep your tattoo out of the sun until it is fully healed (around 2 weeks or more), after it is healed you should apply sunscreen to your tattoo when you will be outside (but only after it is fully healed).

How do I contact you for a custom tattoo?

I am not taking on any custom requests at this time. However, if I do open up my custom books in the future, that will be announced to my email list. When I do open my custom books, I take very few requests & prioritize projects that excite me & are in line with my style.

Do I need to do anything prior to my appointment?

For the 2-3 weeks leading up to your appointment, keeping your skin well moisturized and exfoliated will make your skin easier to tattoo and result in a better heal. It is best to arrive to your appointment well hydrated, moisturized, and having eaten a full meal. Try to stay out of the sun a few days prior to your appointment - I cannot tattoo sunburnt skin. Do not drink alcohol the day before being tattooed. It is best to plan to be in the studio 1 hour longer than the tattooing time I quoted when giving you a price estimate.

What is a handpoked tattoo?

Handpoked tattoos (also called stick & poke or machine-free tattoos) are permanent tattoos made without the use of a machine. A needle is used to place ink one dot at a time into the outer layer of the skin. All the materials and needles I use are the same as one would use for a machine tattoo, just without the machine. Generally handpoke tattoos take a little longer, have a faster heal time, and are a great introduction for those who are a little nervous about getting a tattoo.

How much will my tattoo cost?

I charge an hourly rate for my tattoos of sliding scale $140-180/hr. My appointment minimum is $200. You can read more about what sliding scale means here. If you would like a quote prior to your appointment, you can check that box in your booking form. The price is determined by the time it takes to tattoo which can change based on size, placement, and level of detail.

Can I change my mind about size or placement during the appointment?

Yes! As long as we are not making a big change (such as going from the arm to the ribs) I will most likely be able to accommodate the change. If do not think I would be able to complete the tattoo in your appointment slot with the change, we can always reschedule your appt to a later time with no penalties. Please feel comfortable asking for any changes that would feel good to you :-)

If I live far away, can I pay you for a flash design and take it to another artist?

Perhaps! If the design you are wanting is a flash design that has not already been claimed by someone, I am likely to say yes to the request. But it is always a case-by-case basis. I charge a fee based on the design but it usually starts at $50 paid via venmo. Feel free to reach out via email if this is something you are interested in. (blue.child.pokes@gmail.com)

What are your Covid safety requirements?

I wear a mask while tattooing clients. I ask that my clients wear a mask as well. Please bring your own mask to your appointment. Not everyone in the studio masks, but if you would like them to, let me know, it is not a problem!

Do you offer touch-ups?

Yes! And touch-ups are free. You can email me at any time to schedule a touch-up. If you are already planning on booking again with me, we can also add a touch-up onto a flash appointment. Just let me know you want to do this so I block off enough time for you.
